Hi everyone, I have so missed hearing from you the last few days.
Things have been hectic and nerve racking today. I got a call last night at 12:35, never a good sign, saying that my mom had been in a car accident. She had passed out behind the wheel as she was driving to her sister's house last night and hit a parked car. She totaled her car. When I heard this I was sure she was in bad shape. Luckily and by the grace of God she only suffered lots of bruises from her seat belt and the airbags. When I spoke to her she sounded like how you would expect, sore! She is resting at home today and starting her recovery, but it could have been much worse. I am so thankful it wasn't!!!
This has been such a tough couple of years for my mom, first she had cancer, then she had to have spinal surgery which she still hasn't recovered from.
It's strange how life can change in an instant, and it had me recalling the night 3 years ago when my husband didn't come home until 2 in the morning one night and almost died. And even though its been 3 years, I still get frantic when he's late coming home from work or I don't hear from him. This happened tonight and I was beside myself with worry. His phone ended up dying before he could call, but all I could do was think of that horrible night 3 years ago.
They are lucky, my husband and my mom, but some aren't so lucky.
So hug your loved ones today and make sure they know how much you love them, life can change in an instant!
Hi Melinda,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about what happened to your mom!!! But I'm so glad that she is ok - and you're right, it could have been MUCH WORSE!!! I don't know what happened to your hubby 3 years ago, but I'm glad he too is ok!!! Things like these really make me rethink lives with our loved ones. That's why I always try to make each day count. I hope your mom has a speedy recovery - she will be in my prayers - esp all that she has gone through within the past few yrs too! Have a good night, dear friend!
Hugs,
Jessie

ReplyDeleteHi Melinda~
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that your Mom is OK and your husband! You are right about life changing so quickly. we lost a friend last weekend to a motorcycle accident. He had lost his Mom at 17 to a car accident, then his younger brother a few years ago and then had beat cancer. His son and my step daughter are expecting their first child Dec. 18th which would have been his first grandbaby.
Tragic things like this really make us realize how fragile life is.

Oh, Melinda! Sorry to read this but I'm happy that your mom is okay. Yes, things could have been much worse! My thoughts are with you both. She has been through quite a lot recently. And, I'm sorry about your husband too. Sounds like he experienced something similar not so long ago. :( Just another reason to never leave the house angry and always take the time to say I love you.
ReplyDeletea {hug} of comfort to you,
Jami
Glad your Mom is okay! I guess life's lesson is to appreciate each and every day we have with those we love. Because you never know what can happen in the blink of an eye!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue

ReplyDeleteomg Melinda,
ReplyDeleteseriously you have had quite the year.
I am so glad your mom is okay and that she only has bruises to deal with. Oh she has also had such a hard year and I know it kills you not to be with her.
I think I would be the same way if I did not hear from him, you can't help but think what if...
Hang in there sweetie.
Hope you and the kiddies have a great Halloween tomorrow and you can relax and enjoy your family time.

Hi Melinda~ So glad your mom is ok, but I can only imagine getting that call. So awful. It is true life is short and we have to live each day remembering that. This year has made me remember that every day.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Cheryl
Oh wow, what a scary phone call to receive Melinda! I'm relieved to hear that your Mom is okay, and that your husband survived an incident 3 years ago. It does make you consider how precious life is. Thank you for reminding us. I hope your Mom is up in no time and without any pain.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Susan
Fear is a horrible thing and I understand it! I am sorry that happened to your husband three years ago and your mom last night. I am sorry that fear has settled into you in this area. I will pray that you will be set free from that fear. I will pray for a restful mind that doesn't wander. "What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee". I have to pray that often.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you friend.
I'm glad you're mom is going to be ok Melinda. And you're right about how things can change in an instant. Twenty years ago this past week my dad was killed in a car crash. My world fell apart. Now I can't believe it was twenty years ago...I never got to tell him.

Melinda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a scare. Praise God she is OK. And I'm so glad for you that your Husband made it home to you. I understand how you feel. I lost my first Husband 5 years ago very suddenly and unexpectedly. We were just 2 months shy of our 10 year anniversary.
Although tragic and sad, your story and your readers' comments remind me once again to be grateful for every day I have with my family.
Prayers for God's mercy for your Mom to heal quickly. She's really been through a lot.
Blessings,
Missy
